Charter terms

Well Played Editions · current as of October 7, 2026

Every charter is booked on the first five terms; the sixth is a choice you make after booking. You will be asked to confirm you have read them when you pay the deposit, and the exact version you agreed to is kept with your booking, so a later change here never changes what you signed up to.

Payment schedule

What is paid, and when.

A $500 deposit secures your charter. It is a flat amount, not a percentage, and the same on every vessel.

The balance is due 7 days before your charter date. If you are booking within 7 days of the charter, the full amount is payable at the time of booking.

Your date is not held until payment is received. We cannot reserve a vessel on an unpaid booking, and a vessel remains available to other customers until a deposit has been taken.

If the balance is not paid by the due date, the charter may be cancelled and the deposit is forfeited.

In effect since August 29, 2026.

Cancellation and refunds

What comes back if plans change, and how weather is handled.

IF YOU CANCEL

- 30 days or more before your charter: a 100% refund of what you have paid.
- 14 to 29 days before: a full refund less 10% of the total charter price. The 10% is a reservation allocation already included in your all-in price.

- 7 to 13 days before: a 50% refund of the total charter price.

- Less than 7 days before: no refund. As a courtesy we may offer one reschedule, subject to the yacht's availability and the owner's approval.

RESCHEDULED RESERVATIONS

A rescheduled reservation keeps the cancellation terms and refund eligibility of the original departure date. Rescheduling does not reset, extend or restart the cancellation period. Any amount that was non-refundable when the reservation was rescheduled stays non-refundable if you later cancel the rescheduled charter.

IF WE CANCEL

If the captain, the yacht owner or Well Played Editions must cancel because of unsafe weather, a mechanical failure, the yacht being unavailable, or another operational reason not caused by you, you may reschedule or receive 100% of your charter payments back. No reservation allocation is kept.

FOOD, CATERING AND BEVERAGES

Culinary orders are separate from the yacht charter. If food, boat bites, catering or beverages have already been ordered, purchased, prepared or committed through Well Played Editions or one of our partners, the order does not cancel because the charter cancels. It remains your order, and we will arrange for you to pick it up.

HOW REFUNDS ARE PAID

Refunds go back to the original payment method within 10 business days of the cancellation.

In effect since October 7, 2026.

Guest capacity

How many people may be aboard. This is a legal limit, not a preference.

Every vessel in our fleet carries a maximum of 13 people in total. That is you, as the person chartering, plus up to 12 guests.

This is a legal limit, not a house rule. Exceeding it carries penalties for the vessel and the captain, and no member of our staff can authorise an exception for any reason.

Some vessels carry fewer than 12 guests, depending on their own certification. Where that applies, the lower number is the limit for that vessel.

Please give us your final guest count before the charter. Everyone aboard counts, including children and infants.

In effect since August 29, 2026.

Vessel rules

What the boat and her owner ask of everyone aboard.

THE CAPTAIN HAS FINAL AUTHORITY ABOARD

As master of the vessel, the captain is responsible for the safety of everyone on board and for the vessel itself. Their instructions must be followed at all times. The captain may end a charter in progress, without refund, for illegal activity, for damage to the vessel, or for a serious or repeated breach of these rules.

TREAT THE CREW AS PROFESSIONALS

Your captain and crew are responsible for your safety and your day. Abuse, harassment or intimidation of crew, or of other guests, will end the charter immediately and without refund. Discrimination and harassment of any kind are not tolerated aboard.

ILLEGAL ACTIVITY

Illegal activity is not permitted aboard, at any time. This includes illegal drugs of any kind. There is no discretion on this point.

ALCOHOL

Alcohol is permitted for guests of legal drinking age, at the captain's discretion. The captain may stop service or end the charter if drinking makes the vessel unsafe.

SAFETY

No swimming, diving or entering the water without the captain's permission. Do not sit or stand on rails, bows, swim platforms or upper decks while underway. Children must be supervised at all times. Life jackets must be worn when the captain instructs.

CARE OF THE VESSEL

Please remove outdoor shoes where asked. No smoking or vaping except where the captain permits. Do not bring red wine, glitter, confetti or anything that stains onto the vessel without agreeing it first. Fishing, and the handling of catch or bait, only where arranged in advance.

DAMAGE

You are responsible for damage caused by you or your guests beyond ordinary wear. Please report anything broken or spilled to the captain straight away.

GUESTS ARE YOUR RESPONSIBILITY

Please make sure everyone in your party understands these rules before you board. Your charter begins at the time booked — late arrival shortens your charter rather than extending it, as the vessel and crew are scheduled for other bookings.

In effect since August 29, 2026.

Code of conduct

How we expect the day to go, and what a captain may end a charter over.

Your charter begins and ends at a private marina. These are working properties, with residents, other boat owners, and in some cases a restaurant open to the public. How your party behaves ashore matters as much as how it behaves on the water.

DRESS

Swimwear is for the boat. On the docks, in the parking lot, and anywhere in the restaurant, please wear a cover-up or shirt and footwear.

NOISE

Keep music and voices at a conversational level on the docks and in the parking lot, particularly early in the morning and after dark. Portable speakers should stay packed away until you are aboard and clear of the dock, and music aboard is at the captain's discretion.

NO ILLEGAL ACTIVITY ON THE PROPERTY

The marina is private property. Illegal activity of any kind, ashore or aboard, is not permitted and will end your charter.

RESPECT THE NEIGHBORS

People live here, work here, and are eating dinner a few feet from where you are walking. Please park where directed, keep your party together, take your trash with you, and leave the docks as you found them.

WHY WE ASK

We are guests at these marinas ourselves. Our berths are held at the owners' discretion, and one difficult afternoon can cost us a location we have spent years building a relationship with. Please make sure everyone in your party understands this before you arrive, particularly anyone who has not been on a charter before.

In effect since August 29, 2026.

Photos and video

What we may do with pictures from your charter, and how to say no. You choose on your own page after booking.

Well Played Editions and Well Played Charters may photograph or record guests during their charter, event, or onboard experience. Photos and videos may be used by Well Played Editions, Well Played Charters, their affiliates, photographers, and authorized partners for marketing, advertising, social media, websites, promotional materials, public relations, and other business-related purposes.

By consenting, you grant permission for your name, image, likeness, voice, and appearance to be photographed, recorded, edited, reproduced, published, displayed, and shared worldwide in any media now known or later developed, including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, websites, print materials, digital advertisements, and other social media platforms.

You understand that participation is voluntary and unpaid; that Well Played is not required to use any photograph or recording; that images may be cropped, edited, combined with other content, or captioned; that you waive the right to inspect or approve the final materials; that you release Well Played Editions, Well Played Charters, their owners, employees, contractors, photographers, and authorized partners from claims arising from the authorized use of your photograph, video, voice, name, or likeness, except for uses that are unlawful, defamatory, or materially misleading; and that you may ask in writing for future use of identifiable images to stop, while materials already published may not be recalled.

For a minor guest, the parent or legal guardian gives this consent on the minor's behalf and confirms they have the authority to do so.

If you do not consent, tell us here and the crew and photographer will leave you out.

In effect since September 9, 2026.
